What to bring

DAY RAFTING TRIPS

  • Rubber-soled, strap-on shoes that can get wet (Tevas, tennis shoes, water shoes, etc.)
  • Swimsuit / swim trunks
  • T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material. A long-sleeve T-shirt (quick-dry) is handy if you get cold easily on the water or want more sun protection.
  • Water-resistant sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) – please try to use biodegradable “reef safe” sunscreen to not contaminate the river.
  • Sun hat or bandana
  • Insect repellent
  • Croakies or straps to secure glasses
  • Change of clothes, including dry shoes, for after your tour
  • Towel for changing/showering after the trip
  • Any prescription medications necessary

DAY ADVENTURE TRIPS (BIKING, KAYAK TOURING)

  • Water bottle
  • Insect repellent
  • Swimsuit / swim trunks
  • T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material. A long-sleeve T-shirt (quick-dry) is handy if you get cold easily or want more sun protection.
  • Water-resistant sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher) – please try to use biodegradable “reef safe” sunscreen to not contaminate the river.
  • Sun hat or bandana
  • Croakies or straps to secure glasses
  • Change of clothes, including dry shoes, for after your tour
  • Towel for changing/showering after the trip
  • Small waist pack or backpack for essentials you want with you for the tour. You can wear this while cycling or put it into a small drybag if kayaking.
  • Any prescription medications necessary

HIKING / NATURE TOURS

  • Comfortable clothes: T-shirt and shorts of a quick-drying material (especially useful in afternoon rain, which is common in Costa Rica). A long-sleeve T-shirt (quick-dry) is handy if you get cold easily or want more sun protection.
  • Hiking shoes
  • Rain jacket
  • Camera
  • Binoculars
  • Water bottle
  • Insect repellent
  • Water-resistant sunscreen lotion (SPF 15 or higher)
  • Sun hat or bandana
  • Small waist pack or backpack for essentials you want to bring
  • Any prescription medications necessary

MULTI-DAY ADVENTURE TRIPS

Same items as for day trips, with the addition of:

  • Essential personal toiletries
  • Sweater or sweatshirt (for cool evenings)
  • Rain jacket
  • Additional clothing – bring HALF of what you think you need!
  • Reading material / journal
  • Costa Rica is on 110V electricity, the same as the United States.
